    Level 1 : New Crew
ASA is the newest version, but there also lays the problem when it comes to ARK. ASE had a dedicated playerbase, modders and a whole community going. That was completely destroyed all to push ASA. A version they promised would be a free upgrade for ASE. And then they backtracked. And flipflopped all over the place with their promises. After realising ASE players weren't interested in PAYING for ASA (Which continued to have bugs, worse performance and implemented paid mods), they started making ASE life harder untill they shut all official servers down and basically killed the leftover playerbase. But we still didn't buy ASA.

Then Aquatica was announced and that's a whole other extra dumpsterfire, but ASE is getting a push from some part of the devs (Studio Sirens, other names involved are WIldcard and Snail Games, don't ask me how they fit together though), but at this point no one really cares or trusts any news about this. I would love to jump on ASE, but I'm not going to invest in something that might be tossed again next week. Most other oldskool players and modders will have a similar feeling so none of us will be motivated to buy and/or mod ASA.

ARK would need to build trust with the community again, so it would be an "it's complicated" planet I guess :D

I would hop onto this immediately if I could be sure about whatever is going to happen with ASE. I know Studio Sirens has been pushing hard for it and has been communicating like crazy but I'm hesitant to put any time in the ARK overall dumpsterfire. Before dipping a toe in those modding waters I want to make sure I'm not jumping into a pool of acid.

I really want to play ARK again, but ffs they messed up so bad with that IP. How to alienate a loyal fanbase on expert level.

Few proposals that are kinda linked together, so might not be 1 specific planet, it's more based on modding accessibility or potential, so might form a a cluster of planets?

    • Conan Exiles: nuditiy and all other kinds of NSFW stuff, bút the interesting part is because of the unlimited possibilities around the human body, there is a lot of expertise going on in human modelling, movement, all that jazz. Very RPG oriented community too.
Conan is also very easy to get into when it comes to UE modding, Funcom provides a devkit that is kept up to date, there is a pretty active community that can help, there is documentation... With zero modding or UE experience I managed to get pretty far just by starting and doing stuff.

Kinda linked to this is Soulmask: less interesting for the adult part and I have heard that mod struggles mainly come from language barriers, but they have a devkit

Also mentioning Deadside, PVP and shooting, they started working on a devkit around a year ago iirc, I was invited to test the beta, but it was too limited for my interest back then so I'm not up to date on this.

    • VEIN, zombies, adult violence and all.
The interesting bit is that these are a small team of devs (started with 2) that is very invested in communication. I started out with the demo a while back and I already saw the potential because of the amount of mechanics in place. They want to provide modding support in the future and already has a few invested people looking into modding, tryng, using lua and all... Has the potential of a modding community that grows together with the game and the other way around. Devs explain technical issues they run into and what they mean, so very interesting to learn more about the engine (UE too). Think Hytale potential for modding/devving/gamers/accessibility.

    • Nightingale, probably fits your scope the most. Steampunk, fantasy, fae, there's fancy guns, decoration to die for, a extended character creation system... But the game didn't meet expectations on launch and didn't capture a (hardcore?) community. As Conan modder I see alllll the potential, the devs would like to support mods in the future, but basically are trying to keep themselves afloat atm so no time to care about it right now. Because of the lack of core players, there are only a few invested in modding or having the knowledge at all to figure it out from scratch without bothering the devs. I do NOT have that expertise (I tried) but oh man, a devkit for Nightingale would be a the dream for any cosmetic modder.
      > kinda linked to this is VEIN because they need to start from scratch too, same Engine (UE)

I have a few more games that can be linked to this (UE focussed mostly), these are my own interests mainly and I have been thinking about logistics when it comes to information. I have been using Valheimians forever and I like the fact that it has everything we need for communication that isn't tied to social media, but can be linked to it. Uploading files, connecting, rewarding, a forum (I MISS FORA SO MUCH), some level of anonimity....

Information is so spread out atm, I would love to dive into Unity for Valheim, but I'm also in at least 5 discord communities that have several different levels of information to share, so I keep switching to find stuff. Add this for every game I'm invested in and I would like to mod (mentioned above but also Hytale, Minecraft, Valheim, Vintage Story, SUnkenland, 7DTD and more) and you have a information overload info.

But there is also a lot to learn by being able to mess with different engines. By working with UE I started understanding meshes, textures, mapmaking... which makes it easier to understand what is going on in Unity. Some old basic coding language I picked up in the 00s helped me in modding 7DTD, Redstone in Minecraft = basically a visual technical proces, Hytale cubebased building and their modding access are helping to understand heightmaps, noisemaps, worldcreation and so on...

So I'm willing to invest in SOMETHING that can keep stuff organised, if the above does not fit into this specific website scope, but you could see overlap, hit me up. A 18+ universe maybe of some kind.
