I spend a good chunk of time on 3D printing and one of the major features the main model sites have is called "Remixing". This feature allows you to post models as derivatives of another post, similar to forks on Github. Those sites also allow remixing based on the license (Usually Creative Commons) permissions but on here it could be as simple as a toggle if remixing is allowed.
