Should I make The Infinitide paid or free? (Having conscience issues)contact_support
Hello everyone...
I'm having troubles morally about if I should eventually make The Infinitide paid or keep it free. Atm, I don't have a problem with it being free as I don't have too many expenses that require a game's income to cover but I could also use any income for things in life like my family, the house, other things... Life is rough rn.
Anyway, I just want your opinion on if I should keep if free or have it paid. The price will be reasonable of course—not too expensive but just enough for reasonable income that would be of use for me. I can't give an estimate of the price as I've never actually priced anything I sold before surprisingly... But I'll figure it out. But for now I just want to know what y'all think. I'm sure you'll be understanding if it needs to be paid for but if I didn't need the money I would make it free... I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO 😭
Okay, well, can't wait to see what you all think. It'll really encourage me if you give your opinion, no matter what it is. I just want to know that the game idea is interesting and worth doing. Thanks.

i think right now it might not be such a sought after game where people would pay for it since youre not too big of a creator but once you start getting a bunch of players and maybe release a sequel of the game or like really upgrade it or something then you can add a price tag though for now i guess just donations is good :3c
As a developer, manager, and accountant, I already know what to do. I'd start the development and make the first release free, both to help test it and allow time for then to get a feel for it and experience it for themselves so they'll have a reason to share it with others as a game worth playing. Then, I'd make it paid once it's popular enough that they'd be willing to pay for it. Ofc, I'd make a way to make it fair to those who have to pay when there's people who didn't have to in the beginning. I think i already have an idea. This ofc will only matter if i do end up making it paid. But since both the option for just donations is the majority and i feel that's the best way to go anyway, it'll likely not be paid anyway. Even though it'll be optional and I could ask for donations to begin with, I'll still wait as i would if it were paid. I still want them to have a reason to donate too.
And ftr, i don't do sequels on games just to solve problems or gain more following or income. That's how I'm doing it. That's what companies like Nintendo do and i don't want to look like them in the eyes of the users and it just feels a little unmoral anyway.
