Welcome

Sandbox Galaxy is a new community built by a team with many years of experience running social networks and user generated content platforms. From the start, our goal is to create a welcoming, family friendly environment that respects creativity, individuality, and the work of others.

We provide a variety of ways to share content, socialize, collaborate, and make friends with members from around the world. We hope you enjoy your time here and help contribute to a positive experience for everyone.

The community plays an important role in keeping Sandbox Galaxy civil and enjoyable by moderating their own content and flagging inappropriate behavior. In addition, a team of volunteer moderators helps keep the platform clean, organized, and fun. Our aim is to maintain a welcoming, inclusive space and to discourage content or behavior that divides, targets, or pushes agendas.

There is a lot to explore and create here, and with that come rules and guidelines, most of which are common sense. We are all human, except spam bots. They are intentionally disruptive and must be dealt with accordingly.

At its core, Sandbox Galaxy is about creativity, fun, and connecting with others. Sometimes things can go too far or cross a line. While constructive criticism is a valid form of feedback, we do not allow content or communication that is clearly disrespectful, hostile, or malicious in nature.

The following rule pages outline both the obvious and not so obvious guidelines that help keep Sandbox Galaxy a great place to be. Thanks for taking the time to read them.

1.Accounts

Accounts allow members to share content, provide feedback, customize a profile page and communicate with other members of the site. The community respects members who participate in civil discussions, share quality content and have an overall positive influence on the experience of others. If your account is used to negatively impact the community, it's status and content is subject to moderation. Create account

Do not

Sign up if you are under 13. You must be 13 or older to have a Sandbox Galaxy account.
Bypass bans. Creating another account to repeat an offense made on an existing account.
Game the system. Artificially boosting experience, levels or content visibility
Spam. Posting irrelevant, inappropriate or advertising content.
Impersonate someone. Don't intentionally mislead others to believe you are someone you are not.
Use inappropriate usernames. Profanity, racism, registered trademarks are examples of inappropriate usernames.

2.Etiquette

Members are expected to practice proper etiquette while interacting with the community and posting content.

Please do not

Insult others or their content. Constructive feedback is appropriate but be respectful.
Use hate speech, derogatory terms or conduct personal attacks on others.
Troll or intentionally disrupt an otherwise on-topic discussion.
Start or participate in drama. Don't make content that fuels drama.
Mini-mod or attempt to moderate other members yourself. Report the content or member to a moderator.
Post someone's personal information. Never share real world information on anyone. It's dangerous and a serious violation of privacy.
Be unnecessarily profane. No profanity in titles, never in a negative context, keep it to a minimum everywhere else including comments.

2.1.Preferred Speaking Language

English is the primary speaking language of this community. In regards to submissions, if images adequately provide a preview of the content that everyone can understand, we don't mind supplemental descriptions in other languages. We still recommend providing an English translation and may ask for one in some cases.

3.Advertising & Monetization

Promoting or advertising third-party content, websites, or services is generally prohibited. Follow these guidelines to ensure a fair and open community:

Prohibited

No harmful links: Don't link to illegal, dangerous, or inappropriate websites (e.g. pornography, hacking, malware, gambling, drug or trigger sites like screamers.
No incentive compensation: We want the site to be open and fair; providing incentives to users in exchange for votes, following your social media, etc. is not allowed. This also includes giveaways that require that kind of engagement. Hosting a contest that requires entries is OK, but not if the engagement is simply following or boosting your accounts either on this site or externally.
No unsolicited messages: Don't promote an agenda to our members via Private Messaging or comments.
No Ad links: URL shorteners that require viewing ads before accessing content are prohibited. Exception: Lvl 20+ See 3.1 under Commercial Advertising.
No Monetized Content: Our community is primary about freely sharing creativity, not making a profit. Level 20+ See 3.1 under Commercial Advertising.
No Spam: Avoid posting irrelevant or repetitive content, or cross-posting in multiple sections without purpose. Don't post content without some value or relevance to our community.

3.1.Commercial Advertising

Do not use Sandbox Galaxy to generate traffic or attention to commercial endeavors. Links to personal websites, projects and social media are allowed. If it appears you're here to take advantage of our community, your account will be banned.

Do not circumvent our commercial advertising rules by including links in your content description or comments. Such actions will result in temporary or permanent removal of the content. Repeated violations will lead to a ban on your account.

Allowed: Professional Portfolios & Commissions. Professional Build Teams and members that contribute non-commercial value to the community are allowed to state the fact that they accept commissions or link to their external portfolios. Setting up a commercial page such as listing prices, outlining hiring details or negotiating commercial deals on Sandbox Galaxy is forbidden.

3.2.Commercial Advertising ( Level 20+ )

Upon attaining Level 20, you are recognized as a more trustworthy member of our community. This milestone reflects your commitment and contribution, distinguishing you from those who might engage in spamming or exploiting our users. Prohibited rules still apply but the following privileges are unlocked.

Limited Ad Links: Once you reach level 20, you're allowed limited use of Ad links on your submission downloads. We still recommend adding an alternative ad free link in the description so that your followers have a choice. Ad links are not allowed in other posts formats including but not limited to comments, forum posts and wall posts. In addition, excessive daisy chaining, redirecting from more than one ad link, is forbidden.
Donation and Support: You're allowed to accept donations or link to support services such as Patreon subscriptions or Paypal donations.
Monetized Content: You're allowed to link to your own downloadable content behind a monetization service. However, we reserve the right to remove that privilege for any reason, including any misleading, shady activity or reportedly taking advantage of our users.

We understand that content creators want support and that monetization can be a part of that.
Do not abuse these privileges and it's up to us on whether you are.

4.Moderation Notifications

When you have been moderated, you will receive a moderation notification visible in a separate notifications tab. For ease of use, this notifications tab will be visible on your icon for a few weeks after you have been moderated.

The moderation notification will clearly state

The reason for being moderated (e.g “Copyright Issue”)
A message from the moderator (e.g “This skin is copied from Cyprezz”)
Information about the moderator who moderated you.

You will also have the option to view all your past moderation logs in your Moderation Dashboard.

5.Submissions

Sandbox Galaxy is a member generated content and social media platform. This section provides rules & guidelines for the different types of content. The following rules apply to all types of content.

5.1.Do not

Steal / Modify / Plagiarize work by others. Only post content you personally created. If posting transformative "Fair Use" work, seek permission from the original author and include credit.
Post themes that are inappropriate in a public family friendly environment. The community will report and our moderators will decide whether it should be moderated. You will receive a reason for the moderation.
Advertise commercial services. Learn more in "Promotion & Advertising" section of this page.
Generate content with programs. You can use tools to aid in the creation of your content. It can't solely be generated by an automated process or algorithm. Credit any sources you use.
Use placeholders or announcements to describe content that you haven't started yet. Your wall, or other social features, can be used for such announcements.
Spam. Examples include multiple posts of the same content, single posts without substance.
Post cheats. We don't support mods that encourage hacking, griefing, cheating, or similar behavior.

5.2.Update logs

The Update Log allows you to post notes and notify the system that you've made an important update to your content. The site will bump the content to the top of the recently updated list for the public to see.

Do not

Post empty or spam entries such as "bump" to the Update Log.
Post only to bump the submission without updating the content. An update log must provide reasonable explanation for the update.

Exception: Servers have unlimited use of the Update Log, since it does not bump servers. Servers also have a specific "Bump" button found under the Update Log tab which can be used every 24 hours. This is to keep the Recently Updated list for servers fresh with servers with active owners on Sandbox Galaxy.

5.3.Projects

A project is a build or world that you created in a sandbox game and want to share with the world.

Do not

Post without in-game screenshots. An image is worth a thousand words.
Post content that includes work by others unless it is content specifically provided for reuse and does not make up the majority of the content you are posting (ex: tree packs), or you provide proof of permission to use it.
Post portions of larger builds already posted. Unless you were part of a team build and allowed to post the part of the build you created.
Post servers in the projects section. You are free to post builds that you make on a server, but the focus must be on the build itself and not the server.

5.4.Skins

Skins are textures that change the look of the in-game character to anything you want to be.

Do not

Post solid colors or spam. This includes skins that are one color, scribbled, filled with noise, etc.
Part pick from other artists skins to make your skins. You must make original content.

5.5.Texture Packs

Texture packs changes the original game's look and feel. Typically, texture packs change the textures of the game but they also support changing sound effects, models and more.

Do not

Post packs without some sort of preview. Clearly illustrate what the resource pack does with images, text and/or video.
Post packs with only minor tweaks. If the pack only tweaks or adds an incredibly small amount of texture/sound/UI elements it may be considered spam. The pack doesn't need to be 100% complete before posting but it should give visitors a good reason to download the first version.
Violate copyright or trademark laws. Don't use copyrighted textures, music or sounds from non-royalty-free sources. Don't post texture packs created by modifying or collecting parts from other texture packs.
Post packs that include original game content. This is a breach of copyright, and not the way texture packs should be compiled. They should only contain the changed or added files, which allows them to be mixed and matched, and reduces the file size significantly.

5.6.Servers

A server hosts multiplayer games for players to collaborate, compete and socialize. We don't control what happens on these servers! Please don't report a server for being unfair or banning you. We do not moderate servers, that's their business. If the server is allowing illegal activities, a report is warranted but ultimately needs to be filed with their hosting provider.

Do not

Post your server multiple times. You can bump your server once a day using the Update Log tab when editing your existing post.
Promote illegal activities such as drug use or inappropriate role-play.
Post proxy / dummy servers. No servers that exist only to funnel players to another server.
Post servers that lead to same hub. Post the hub itself or choose one server to be your primary.
Post servers you don't own or operate.
Post servers allowing cracked / non-premium clients. We cannot and do not support piracy, and by extension do not allow servers doing so to be advertised here.

5.7.Models

In general Models are considered content that represent 3D objects in the game. They can be an entirely new model or a heavily modified replacement for an existing model in the game.

Do not

Post without some sort of preview. It doesn't need to be all angles but it should clearly present your work.
Post without an adequate description that explains what the Model is or does and ideally how to add it in the game.

5.8.Mods

In general Mods are considered content that extends or modifies the original game. They can also be tools or programs that are useful to the target gaming community.

Do not

Post without a functioning version. It doesn't need to be the final version, just usable.
Post without an adequate description that explains what the mod does and how to use it. Include in-game screenshots when appropriate.
Post unoriginal mods that took minimal effort to develop and change very little about the original game.
Post configuration files to existing mods. Configs should be distributed on the forums.
Post Mod packs. Multiple mods in a single post / download are rarely created by the same author or obtain the proper permissions from the original authors.

5.9.Blogs

The blog section is to be used for written or audio/video content.

Do not

Post content better suited for the forums. Examples include announcements, quick questions, polls, shops/requests, recruitment or petitions. Please post to the forums or your personal profile wall.
Complain about members or moderators. If there is an issue, open a ticket.

6.Reporting

See something against the rules, please report it so that we can review and handle it as soon as possible. After reporting, please be patient since it can take time to investigate and consider the proper action(s) to take. A detailed report with links to proof helps us handle the issue appropriately.

Do not

Report content that doesn't meet your personal quality expectations. Everyone starts somewhere.
Report personal opinions that you simply disagree with unless it's breaking our rules.
Report old content for minor infractions.

Sensitive Matters with Members or Moderators

Any sensitive matters pertaining to yourself, members or moderators can be reported discreetly through the private messaging system to the official SBG support account. This account is only accessible by two staff members both of which will make sure to keep your personal information private and handle your sensitive matter fairly and discreetly. If you need help, let us know and we'll do our best to resolve the matter.

7.Behavior and Conduct

We strive to create a safe, welcoming community where members treat each other with respect, kindness, and consideration.

✅ We expect the following:

Be friendly and supportive to all members. If you don't get along with someone, simply leave them be.
Welcome newcomers to our site and help them feel at home.
Respect others’ beliefs and opinions, without isolating or excluding them for their views.
Leave moderation to the moderators. Report any rule-breaking content and move on.

🚫 The following behaviour is not tolerated:

Bullying or harassing any member.
Posting content intended to upset others or cause drama.
Insulting, using hate speech, targeting, or launching personal attacks on anyone.
Impersonating staff or other members.
Using alternate accounts to bypass or violate these guidelines.

8.Acceptable topics

We celebrate the fact that our community is a global one, full of diverse backgrounds, experiences, and interests. This makes our space exciting, as it allows for a wide range of creative ideas and conversations. However, navigating such diversity can sometimes be challenging. It’s important to be mindful that certain topics can trigger controversy, upset others, or create unnecessary drama. To maintain a positive and welcoming atmosphere, we're presenting some discussions are acceptable and others that may lead to moderation actions.

✅ Acceptable topics include:

Sharing your creations, experiences, artwork and projects.
Discussing real-life or internet events. (However, make sure to not disclose personal information)
Expressing your beliefs and opinions, as long as you're respectful of other people's beliefs, opinions, identities, lifestyles, etc.
Talking about Sandbox Galaxy Planets and other games! :D
Chatting about music, books, movies, and other forms of entertainment.
Offering tips, tutorials, or advice on creative projects.

🚫 These are not acceptable:

Any form of racism, homophobia, transphobia, biphobia, sexism, etc.
Extensive religious or political discussions. (It's okay to mention your beliefs, but don't push them on others.)
Complaints about moderation actions taken against you or others. It's better to move on
Public complaints about other members. If there's an issue, report it privately instead of making a public fuss.
Bringing attention to your blocks, and blocks against you. People blocked you for a reason, please respect their wishes.
Anything else that might get you banned—if in doubt, it's better to avoid it!

9.Profile Pages

Your personal profile is a space for you to showcase your creativity, personality, and interests. We allow members to fully customize their profiles with avatars, profile banners, custom widgets, social links, and more, making it a unique reflection of who you are. While we encourage customization, we also want to ensure profiles remain appropriate for our diverse and global community.

✅ Feel free to customise your profile with:

An avatar and profile banner that represents you or your creations.
Custom widgets that showcase yourself, your creative work and appropriate interests.
Social media links to connect with others.
A bio or description to share more about yourself and your interests.

🚫 However, please avoid:

Inappropriate or offensive imagery, language, or content.
Links to harmful or dangerous websites, or personal websites intended to get around these rules.
Content that violates our community guidelines, including hate speech or harassment.
Content that pushes a political or religious agenda on others.

Your profile is a powerful way to express yourself and connect with others in the community. Just make sure that it stays fun, respectful, and welcoming to everyone! We understand that not everyone is going to friends, but we ask that all members treat each other with kindness and respect.

10.Wall Posts

We know that wall posts on Sandbox Galaxy are a fun and creative way to express yourself, share quick thoughts, or interact with your friends and followers. Because of their short form, personal context, and the fact that they tend to pass through feeds relatively quickly, we’re a bit more relaxed when it comes to what members post on their personal walls. However, it’s still important to keep certain guidelines in mind to ensure our community remains respectful and enjoyable for everyone.

✅ Acceptable wall post content includes:

Sharing personal updates, thoughts, or fun moments from your day.
Announcing new projects, builds, or creations you're excited about.
Posting lighthearted jokes, memes, or conversations with friends.
Your opinions, interests, or inspirations.
And more - wall posts are a vibrant place to freely and safely socialize with others!

🚫 Avoid these in your posts:

Any form of hate speech, harassment, or disrespectful content.
Prolonged political or religious rants that could spark controversy.
Complaints or attacks on other members or moderation actions.
Spammy or overly frequent posts that clog up the feed.
Revealing personally identifiable information about yourself or others, including face reveals of younger users.

Remember, while we’re more flexible with wall posts, it’s still important to keep the community spirit positive and inclusive. If in doubt, ask yourself if your post adds to the fun and creativity of the community!

Sandbox Galaxy is moderated by an evolving team of moderators that uphold the community guidelines to help create a positive, creative and safe environment. Moderators aim to help the community with content and social concerns. For larger cases, we engage in discussions to ensure decisions are made with the community's best interests in mind.

We want to be transparent about moderation on this site, so please read through this section to understand what goes behind the scenes. Always remember that staff members are humans too, just like you.

11.Community Reporting

Sandbox Galaxy is a community-driven platform, and everyone plays a role in keeping our space creative, friendly, and safe. While moderators are here to ensure guidelines are followed, we rely on you—our members—to help us stay informed about content, profiles, comments, or behaviors that might violate our guidelines. Look for reporting options throughout the platform, relative to the specific content or behavior you wish to report. We also have a ticket system available. By reporting concerns, you’re not just looking out for yourself, but for the entire community.

Reports are reviewed largely on a case-by-case basis and are kept confidential - only moderators will know who reported what. If in doubt, feel free to make a ticket or privately contact any staff member. To keep cases fair, reports against a staff member are hidden to the staff member, so you can safely report any staff member. However, we still advise you to either contact an administrator or make a ticket if you have any concern with a staff member.

Moderators can and will contact you with any follow up information regarding your report. You can view all your open and past reports, along with information about which staff member handled them and any replies from staff, on your reports dashboard.

✅ What you can report:

Inappropriate content, including offensive builds, skins, or posts.
Comments or messages that are harmful, disrespectful, or violate our guidelines.
Profiles containing inappropriate imagery, language, or links.
Any behavior that feels threatening or unsafe or that violates these guidelines.

🚫 Maybe don't report these:

Personal disagreements that don’t break community rules.
Content that you simply dislike but does not violate guidelines.
Accidental mistakes—give members the benefit of the doubt if it’s not serious.

Remember, we’re all in this together. By reporting issues, you’re helping to protect the creativity and positive spirit that makes us special. Let’s work together to keep this community a place where everyone can feel welcome, inspired, and safe!

12.Moderator Ranks

An overview of our moderation ranks:

Admins: develop the platform and handle disputes within moderation. While they don't typically engage in day-to-day moderation, they review our more complex cases.
Super Moderators: have similar permissions to Site Moderators but have significantly more experience on Sandbox Galaxy and in it's moderation tools and practices.
Site Moderators: are typically the first to address rule violations. Most cases are resolved at this level without needing further escalation.
Forum Moderators: oversee the forums and can moderate replies on content across the platform.

13.Moderator Actions

✅ Moderators can do this:

Ban or lock member accounts and groups.
Reset usernames, custom statuses, social links and profile art.
Remove, disable or restore uploaded content.
Lock or delete forum threads and posts.
Modify profile widget content. (All edits are logged)
Find potential alt accounts.
Review member block lists.
Maintain various whitelists and blacklists of URLs, phrases and server IPs.
Manage private support tickets.
Perform any action a regular member can.

🚫 But we CANNOT do this:

Take any of the above actions without valid reason.
View your Private Messages (Admins only)
View your private email or IP. (Admins only)
Review group applications.
Break our own rules or treat members unfairly.

Examples of corrective actions

For some clarity, here are a few actions that Site moderators can take:

Content

Delete submissions (Hidden from public, can be restored).
Disable submissions (Hidden from public, changes allowed for restoration review)
Change titles, URLs, tags, remove download links or manage monetization status.

Profile

Ban or tempban (Prevents public posting for a set period).
Lock (Prevents login, profile inaccessible to public).
Edit usernames, some widgets, and find probable alt accounts.

Forum

Delete threads or posts.
Edit threads or posts.
Lock forum threads.

Chat

Remove messages and issue chat infractions.
View private conversations.
Change chat announcement.
Appear invisible in chat

14.Issues with Moderation

Moderators strive to make decisions that serve the best interests of the community. While you may not always agree with or fully understand their actions, we ask that you review the rules, respect their judgment, potentially learn from any mistakes and continue to engage constructively.

We're all human and moderators can make mistakes too. If you wish to appeal a decision, please submit a ticket. The moderation team will review your appeal and discuss it with the moderator involved.

If you believe a moderator has violated our rules or community guidelines, you can contact a senior moderator via PM or submit a ticket. Moderators are held to a higher standard, and any complaints are carefully reviewed by the Admins.
